CMLI Day 2

So, I've been in South Bend at Notre Dame for a Campus ministry conference since yesterday and it's been like a Life Teen retreat on steroids. It's amazing.

First of all, you have the campus its self, which is just breath taking, The Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the football stadium (which I ran around this morning), a dining hall that deserves a AAA Five Diamond Rating, and some of the most beautiful chapels I've ever seen (apparently, each dorm has it's own), but truly, the most amazing part is the grotto to Our Lady of Lourdes at night.

So, anyway, each group from the 19 colleges and universities in attendance has come with a specific goal or vision in mind that they want to take back to their respective school and implement. This conference serves the dual purpose of giving these groups the time and tools to plan out their projects but also to develop each of the participants into strong leaders. Our group's vision is to simultaneously grown in numbers (we only average 15 people a week) and to deepen our understanding of what it means to be a Catholic.

So, today, I really felt we actually got down to the task at hand and were able to get to work on a "vision" for our year, a guiding light for the year, so to speak. I think it will be helpful, it's something that every time we think about planning or doing something this year we can first go and think "does this deepen our faith or help us bring new members?" if so, great, if not, it something that needs to be put on the back burner. Hopefully, these last four or five days can be just as good. Also, as a service for Moo and a few others who asked I've added the itinerary for the next day:

Monday, June 12
7:30 am: Breakfast
8:45 am: Morning Prayer
9:15 am: Annoucments
9:30 am: Project Sessions 2 (Prioritize)
11:30 am: Small Group Lunch/Freetime
2:00 pm: Pastoral 3 (Appropriating the Faith)
3:30 pm: Project Sessions 3 (Tasks/Responsibilities)
5:00 pm: Dinner
6:30 pm: Theological Reflection/Discussion
8:15 pm: Daily Evaluations
8:30 pm: Night Prayer (After Night Prayer: Student Social)
